My Alexis started first grade today! If anyone had jitters, it wasn't her. She was so excited and for that I am grateful as it gave me less to worry about. I would love so much to be a fly on the wall in her classroom today. I know she doesn't need me there, I would just love to watch her interactions and she how she gets through the lunch line, etc. This school year will be an exciting challenge as she is in a French immersion program and will be taught math, science, social studies, and French all in the French language. She will have an English speaking teacher for reading and writing. She is as excited as we are about the program. It has long been a dream of ours to have her in such a school and we were ecstatic to find it here when we moved. She attended an immersion preschool in Arizona but there was nothing like that where we were in California. I am glad she has some background with the French language so everything won't feel completely "foreign" to her but since there is no English spoken by her French teacher, there will be a big learning curve I am sure. It was a bit sureal to send her through the school doors in the swarm of fellow first graders and turn around to leave her there for the whole day. It was one more string of parental attachement cut today and my heart is left a little tender as a result. It's so fun to watch them grow up but a little sad too for some reason. I was watching her brush her teeth last night before bed and had one of those wierd moments where it stuck me funny to be teaching my little duaghter to be a little person and take care of herself. I am so proud of her and the hard worker she is and know she will be a great first grader!

Awww, she is SUCH a doll. You will love the immersion program. Laylah was in the Spanish immersion program in Utah and that was one of the difficult things about moving away as they have nothing like that here in Virginia. I cannot believe how much Spanish she learned in just 6 short months. Of course now it's mostly forgotten, but maybe someday she'll want to learn it! I can't wait to hear more about your move, getting settled, etc (hint hint ;)
wow! French immersion!! That is awsome! I bet Adam is so proud! (and you too)! We miss you guys! I am glad you are adjusting well! How fun to be so close to family! Miss you!!
