2008 Olympiad
What a ride! Especially when the Olympics are taking place on the other side of the world! I was totally stoked about seeing Shawn Johnson get her gold medal and Phellps get eight! There is something special about seeing it "live" as opposed to through the replays; it's so much more magical when you watch it as it airs with all the intensity behind it. Last night was the first night in weeks that I have gone to bed "at night" as opposed to "in the wee early morning." Between reading the "Twilight" books and the Olympics, who has had time to sleep? Aubrey was having another spell of resting restlessly through these past weeks as well so it's a good thing I wasn't trying to sleep much then anyway. :) I'm pretty excited about the 2012 Olympics taking place in London; I definitely feel a trip coming on...(I think I'll go get a new piggy bank for it today; now if I could only figure out where to get money to put in that new bank...)

Finished!
I did it! I finished the entire "Twilight" series...and loved it! Considering there were four books and the last one alone was 754 pages, it feels like quite an accomplishment to me. I don't know how I did it ...although I'm sure my husband has a word or two to say about getting the the backseat to my books for the last several weeks. He can return to the forefront of my attention again...and considering the romantic story I've read, I'm sure he'll be happy about it. :) We have a date already scheduled for November 21st to see the movie of the first book on opening night! What a beautiful combination of romance and suspense. A definite "must read" but I will worn you of the obsession that will inevitably follow...I actually dreamed Adam was a vampire the other night (for those who don't know, the book is a vampire story -one I never thought I'd take interest in), when my computerized version of Monopoly asked if I wanted to add a "human player," I instinctively assumed the other choices were along the lines of vampire or werewolf, of course, it only meant "or a computerized player." The thought even crossed my mind the other day that if Allie touched my cheek with her little hand... you get the idea -complete obsession! I've never been this way about a book before and all I can say is...I loved every minute!

4 Month Check-up
Allie is four months old already and weighs in at 15.4 lbs and stretches to 24 3/4 inches. She is a healthy little "monkey" and continues to be such a treasure in our home. Our happy little baby loves to roll around, play with toys, and slobber, slobber, slobber...anyone who has held her knows what I'm talking about! She has also discovered her thumb and loves sucking on it alone! Yikes! As a result, we're re-visiting the concept of using a binkie, in spite of our less than successful attempts in the past, and she's learning to like it -hooray!
Sprinkles!
To all my fellow "Fancy Nancy" fans...
my girls put pink sprinkles on top of their oreo ice cream cones last night, and yes, it really was that much more fun!
P.S. Did anyone else stay up until 1AM to watch Shawn and Natsia claim the Silver and Gold Medals last night?! Awesome! (So much better "live" than in the re-run highlights.)

Garbage Day!
We are home from our summer adventures in Utah and my girls were so excited to run out and greet the garbage man again this morning! He, of course, waved and smiled back. We had an absolutely marvelous time in Salt Lake and we were spoiled to bits by our friends and family. Thank you all for a wonderful time! (I think we should make our month in Utah a regular summer tradition.) :) Now that we are home, I've spent days re-adjusting to life as a mom and homemaker. Not loving the chores but it's all part of the package until I win a maid, a cook, and an accountant someday. I've also had an unhealthy obsession to the "Twilight" series, which after much prodding, I finally agreed to read and I am completely addicted. I ignored and neglected my family for days and my books never left my side. I've finished the first two but had to "ground" myself through the past weekend to spend time with my family and get a few other things done. I threatened to fake sick on Saturday so I could read in my room all day while Adam was here with the girls, but I'm sure that Adam would have let me be sick only on the conditions that "Twilight" was no where within my reach. I can hardly wait to get into book three! My family has become completely enthused with the Olympics and my girls have a new aspiration to be "monkeys in swimsuits" like the girls they saw on TV. Aubrey and Alexis haven't stopped jumping off the couch and somersaulting down the hall since they first put eyes on the gymnasts. Since the events take place across the world and air until midnight; I have had even less sleep than usual lately. I was SO excited to see the girls team final in gymnastics last night ...and I missed half of it. I had two bowls of ice cream trying to keep myself awake, and Adam nudged my every five minutes to try and pop my eyelids back open. I was seeing double as I fought with all my might to see the last event before the USA claimed the silver medal. I was literally holding my eyelids open with my fingers but still couldn't see straight I was so tired. Why did I do it? Because it's fun to get excited about things, fun to have something to look forward to, fun to break -up the ordinary routine of things. And after all, it only comes around every four years! Next time I'd like to just be there and then I'm sure I wouldn't have any problem keeping my eyes open for the full show! Pictures will come soon, after I take a break from my new, temporary, addictions.
